Resilient seated butterfly valves are the zero offset sort with no offset near the stem. It’s also referred to as “concentric” and “rubber seated” They handle liquid and gas application demands of up to 400°F in heat or pressure up to 250 PSI.

What makes the valve centric is placement of all the pieces in the center. There is no offset in the body of the valve nor a stem packing adjustment. It operates with 360º rotation of the disc around the center axis. Sealing is made via the interference fit between the disc and the rubber seat at the stem and along the disc edge.

Unlike a offset seated butterfly valve, the rubber seat covering the body ensures that the valve body does not come in contact with the material passing through the pipe. This helps the production contents stay pure and isolated from the body thus allowing less expensive body material. Depending on the conditions of the operations, the rubber may wear out and weaken the sealing function. If the valve seat is damaged, it is relatively simple to replace the valve seat, so the resilient seated butterfly valve is easy to repair.

Types of Resilient Seat Butterfly Valves

The resilient seated butterfly valve can also be divided into wafer type, flange type and lug type according to the connection mode. Different linking methods can be applied to different pipelines to meet your needs for pipeline linking.

Resilient Seat Butterfly Valve Material

The seats of the butterfly valve can be categorized into two. These are the soft materials and the metal-seated butterfly valve. The resilient seat butterfly valve belongs to the former. Used for non-critical applications, such butterfly seats can be made from EPDM (ethylene propylene diene terpolymer), VITON, and acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber.
